taking yoga, BUT..." or "I'd
love to eat better BUT..."Believe me, I know - I'm really good at those
buts! We have so many reasons why things can't go the way we want. How
about if we just entertained the possibility that what we dream could become a reality? Is that too scary?
What if you actually did something good for your body? Or relaxed more? Or stepped one toe on
the path to a more fulfilling career? Then what? Maybe try taking one of
those "buts" and examining it from a different angle. Let me know what you come
up with... | Manifesting purpose in 2008 After a Reiki session four years ago, Billie Topa Tate told me that my path was to be a healer and teacher. I didn't really believe her. I could see
myself teaching, but Reiki - no way! I was way too skeptical and waaay too left-brained for that. Besides,
I had to work at that corporate computer job, or else the mortgage wouldn't get
paid. So where would I be doing Reiki sessions - on the conference room table? Who was going to watch my little guy
while I was doing all this "energy" stuff? Really, people make a living teaching yoga and doing energy work? I had a million reasons why it couldn't happen - a million "buts." Curiosity finally got the better
of me, and the nagging feeling that this had to be done (or at least tried), so I decided to entertain the possibility that
Billie might be right. Suddely, the babysitting worked itself out and three consecutive
weekend days became available. In fact, I've noticed that whenever I decide that something I really want to do might be
possible, the stage of my life often rearranges itself. Yoga training, Reiki training, leaving that corporate job, graduate
school, internship... Sometimes it doesn't and then I can get some sleep (LOL!). Seriously
though, I'm starting to accept that the barriers to possibility mostly exist in my mind - all the reasons why things can't happen. I also believe that every step is guided - there are no accidental meetings,
no strange coincidences. If I listen, if I keep my eyes open, the next step is made clear - and what a journey it has been!
It's been four years of cautiously watching this path unfold and alternately struggling, resisting,
doubting, accepting and being awed. And now (since 2008 is the year of manifesting) I've decided it's time to step
fully into my life purpose - without fear, excuses or hesitation - no more "buts." I am a healer. I am a teacher. There, I said it - now there's no going back! Since
I've given up resisting, instead of disaster I've found magic, and with it this amazing feeling of gratitude - for
this life of service and the invisible hands that guide it; for wonderfully supportive family and friends; for amazing teachers
who appear at just the right time; for this yoga practice that keeps me sane; for wonderful students and clients; and for
the simple blessing of this next breath... Namaste. May you manifest magic
