Restorative Yoga is back! Restorative
Yoga will be offered once per month on Sundays starting in August. The next class will be
Sunday, August 3, 7-8:30pm. Fee - $12.
We'll start with gentle stretching, then restorative poses (yes, we'll do Goddess Pose). There
can be some chanting if you want to chant. Expect to leave deeply relaxed and ready for your work week.
Just Say No to Judgement Billie Topa Tate, one of my favorite teachers, started off her healing class by cautioning us not
to judge our clients. Goswami Kriyananda, head of the Temple of Kriya Yoga offered this advice: When you feel yourself
judging another person, simply notice and say: "Isn't that interesting." What's
the big deal about judgement? Well, yoga teaches the principle of ahimsa - non-harming.
When we judge another we create a negative intention toward that person. We are harming them with our thoughts.
Since we are all one, created from the same
Big Bang (see Lynn McTaggart's book The Field), the mystical teaching is that we hurt ourselves as well when we create this negative intention. Believe me, I know it's not easy. But the next time you find yourself judging,
notice your heart - you might find it has hardened, even just a little. Maybe if we could soften, forgive that person for
not being who we think they should be, then we could forgive ourselves for also not being perfect.
| Thoughts on Transformation... It is almost Fall already and I'm just now getting out the Summer
newsletter! Hopefully you're all enjoying being outside without multiple layers on. This
past weekend I watched Black Swallowtail caterpillar become a chrysalis. In order to do this, it climbs onto a branch and
hangs there. If you watch closely, you see the skin lose its brilliant color and notice that something seems to be happening
inside. Eventually, the skin splits and the chrysalis begins to emerge, writhing and twisting until the dead skin completely
falls off. Then it twists some more, as if not sure the metamorphosis is complete, and eventually settles in, hanging
by a threadlike harness. As I watched I recognized this process as familiar – shedding our old skin to become something new and more amazing,
something that we maybe didn't even realize we were becoming now finally able to be presented to the world. I wondered
as I watched the caterpillar transform – does it hurt? Or is that notion just a projection of my own human
perspective? Why would I assume that change and transformation should be difficult, or even painful?
Click to read more... Reconnective Healing & The Reconnection The first time I felt the Reconnective Healing® frequency (around
my hand), I sat back in my chair and exclaimed: "What the heck was that?!" It felt like a jolt of energy that ran
up my arm and through my spine - unlike anything I had ever felt before. Dr. Pearl, the California chiropractor with whom
the Reconnection started, talks about it in his book, The Reconnection. The Reconnective Healing® frequency feels
different to each person. Not everyone has a strong sensation, but it can be a pretty wild experience for some. Some people
experience dramatic healing. For others, the result is much more subtle. There are no guarantees.
Read more about Reconnective Healing® on my website. You can also get more information at The Reconnection website. To experience it for yourself,
call me at 773-531-8513 to schedule your appointment. It is recommended to schedule up to 3 sessions (but no more than 3) for specific issues. The sessions are
45 mins to 1hr and the cost for each session is $80. | New Class in Evanston! In case
you don't already know, I'm teaching a new class for beginning & new yoginis (and yogis too!) at the YWCA in Evanston
on Thursdays at 6:30pm. This class runs in 6-week sessions, but there
will be a limited number of drop-in spots available. Check the website for more details... Mystical Meet-Ups going strong. Good food, good folk, and good conversation - what could be better? Spend the first Wednesday of each month with
us at the Mystical Meet-Up potluck dinners. We've discussed the movie What The Bleep and had a very fun time talking about
(and experiencing)Synchronicity. Don't worry about
what to bring - it doesn't have to be organic and vegetarian to be "allowed"! We've had decadent flourless
chocolate cake and yummy chocalate chip cookies. And I'm still trying to convince some people that vodka would not make for an even more interesting conversation! If you want to receive notifications and reminders specifically about the Mystical Meet-Ups, please
email me and I'll add you to that email list. Next one - August 6 @ 7:30pm. Reconnective Healing® & The Reconnection®
Available by appointment. Call 773-531-8513 or email me to make an appointment. Referrals appreciated
