An Alternative Way of Healing

    Incorporating a variety of physical, emotional and mental tools, BodyMind Therapy enables you to hear your body’s messages, recognize your innate knowing, and experience yourself as whole.  Through this process, you are supported in making peace with your body and mind.

    Rather than rehashing the past, Body/Mind Therapy works with what is here now.  The past is over.  What is problematic are the effects that the past is having on our present life experience.

     The BodyMind Therapy process supports you to:
     
    •    Heal from the present effects of past pain or trauma
    •    Become the architect of your own healing
    •    Find ease in body and mind using movement, breath and awareness
    •    Appreciate yourself and your worthiness to be here
    •    Tap into your own inner reservoir of wisdom and peace

Customize your healing journey

You may choose to incorporate one or all of the followings tools in your customized BodyMind Therapy process:
  • Yoga provides a foundation for supporting your body to become stable, strong and flexible.  A physically strong and flexible body promotes a strong and flexible mind.  Yoga breathing and physical postures also balance your body’s energetic system.  Yoga can help your mind to focus by mindfully observing and experiencing movement, stillness and sensation, even if you don't feel ready for seated meditation.  You start where you are, with simple exercises that are geared toward your ability and experience level.

  • Body-centered awareness supports you in listening to your body in a non-threatening way and allowing it to come back to balance. This is especially helpful when your body has experienced obvious trauma, like a car accident or violent attack or more “hidden” trauma like an overwhelming medical procedure as a child.  Sometimes our bodies are still holding on to frightening childhood experiences, even as adults.  Body-centered awareness is an integral part of all the BodyMind Therapy tools.

  • Meditation develops your ability to sit in quiet companionship with yourself, eventually allowing a friendship to develop through non-judgmental awareness of your own thoughts and sensations.  Rather than “stopping” the mind, meditation offers practice in recognizing the mind’s chaos and still remaining peaceful and self-compassionate.
The following tools can also support your healing journey:
  • Reconnective Healing supports your whole system to heal at an energetic level.  The Reconnective frequency balances and enhances the energy of the body allowing previously untapped resources and issues to arise based on your soul’s readiness. 

  • The Reconnection helps to clear any blocks to the recognition and acceptance of your life purpose.

It can be a little intimidating to make an appointment with someone you don't know to discuss personal issues, so there are a few ways you could proceed.  You could start the process by calling me for a free 20-minute chat.  This will help us both to get a sense of each other.  You can decide if I feel like someone you would like to work with, and I can get a sense of whether I might be able to support your particular needs.  If I can't help I will try to refer you to someone else.   You can also find out a little more about me by signing up for my newsletter below, or reading my blog.  You may also attend one of my classes or workshops.

If you decide to proceed with Yoga, Body-centered therapy or a customized BodyMind Therapy program, our first session would involve clarifying your goals.  Together we would create your customized plan based on your comfort level, physical capabilities, time available, etc.  BodyMind sessions are 75 minutes, and it is best to start off once per week.  We will review your program's effectiveness from time to time and make changes as needed.  What you get out of our time together will be directly related to your level of commitment in continuing your process outside of the office.   That commitment could mean 5-10 minutes a day if that's all the time you have.
